The ÖGB has today given the Vida union the green light for a 24-hour warning strike across Austria in the railway sector. The strike was announced for Monday, November 28. 2022, set in the period from midnight to midnight, according to a statement from the Vida union. The Federal Strike Committee of the Vida Railroad Department was established. As a result, the state strike committees would also be set up immediately.
“The reason for the railway workers’ strike is an insufficient supply from the employers’ side below the average rolling rate of inflation and the abrupt termination of negotiations by the employers after the 5th round of KV negotiations last Sunday, although there has been a day of negotiations was scheduled for the following Monday,” said Robert Hofmann, federal secretary of the railway department in the Vida and member of the KV negotiating team.
These are the attack targets
The Federal Strike Committee of the Vida Railway Department set the strike targets for the 24-hour warning strike.
The main points are the request to the negotiating partner, the Association of Railways in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ), to return to the negotiating table, the fulfillment of the union demand for an increase in KV and actual wages with a monthly fixed amount to empower the lower and middle incomes and that any repression against the strikers should be avoided and any legal action against the strikers should be avoided.
