After Wednesday’s warning strike, Berlin Airport BER wants to switch back to regular flight operations with numerous canceled flights. According to airport operator FBB, the airport infrastructure will be fully available again on Thursday after the strike.
However, due to flight cancellations and rebookings from the day of the strike, there may be a temporary increase in passenger numbers. More travelers are expected, especially in the early, morning and afternoon hours, according to a statement. Passengers should also get information about their airline’s flight status, as airlines have canceled individual flights in the aftermath of the warning strike.
The Verdi trade union paralyzed all operations at Berlin/Brandenburg airport on Wednesday in a nearly 24-hour labor dispute. 300 flights and landings had to be cancelled. About 35,000 passengers were affected.
Warning strikes at the post office
The union justifies the action with the fact that there is insufficient progress in collective bargaining for the approximately 6,000 employees in the three areas. There are also countermeasures in another industry. Verdi also called on Deutsche Post employees to go on warning strikes on Thursday. Referring to the high inflation, the union is demanding a 15 percent wage increase for the collective labor agreement for a period of twelve months. The training fees are increased by 200 euros per month for each year of training.
