PwC -Baas Krickl: “Austria stands for an economic revival”

Date:

Finally good news for the Austrian economy: Rudolf Krickl, head of the PWC tax advice and accountancy firm in Vienna, sees light at the end of the tunnel. But before things really start, we have to make our way through a third year of a recession. But Krickl is sure: “Austria is confronted with an economic revival!”

The reasons why the domestic economy would soon be able to get back to work: the impulses of the government program, the German economic engine of Germany thanks to the 500 billion euros in infrastructure program and new EU initiatives for bureaucracy -my construction.

Third year of the recession – but then it goes uphill!
“We will no longer save ourselves a third year from recession. Because we already have March and the economic data is not good for this year, “says Krickl. But he remains optimistic: “By the end of the year it has to go up again. When the German economic engine jumps again, this is good for the whole of Europe. Austria is also confronted with an economic revival.

Government Program: These are the game canal
Krickl sees promising approaches in the government program of the new Triple Coalition of the ÖVP, Spö and Neos: “I think positively that the performance should be worth a little more by reducing the non -wage costs. This is a good signal because we are one of the best tax countries.

In addition, the planned flat load of 25 percent for pensioners who want to continue to work can illuminate the shortage of trained employees. “This helps to keep qualified staff in the work cycle. What we see is that we need more working hours in Austria.

Researcher Hub Austria: Chance of top scientists
Austria could also settle as a hotspot for research and development. Krickkl argues for the research premium: “The statement in the government program, in which research quota of more than four percent of the gross domestic product wants to come, is a strong signal.”

Many international companies have all their research centers with us – and that creates jobs and added value. The new hostility of the US government against science is also a real opportunity for Austria to restore scientists.

Insurer as an economic sturdy turbo?
According to KRICKKL, domestic insurance companies can also provide an economic style turbo: “The large insurers manage more than 100 billion euros, which they mainly invest abroad because of the regulator. If you could have them invest more in Austria with guarantees and liability of the state, that would bring a real boost for the economy! “

Bureaucracy -mining: Europe must finally deliver
When it comes to bureaucracy, Krickl becomes clear: “It always means that the US has innovation, Asia production and Europe. As a result, there are many negative effects on the European economy.

The EU must therefore actually implement its plans for bureaucracy reduction. “The regulations for sustainability report and the fight against the climate crisis are logical, but are partly exuberant.” However, it is important to invest in the right future technologies and make life easier for companies.

Promote innovation – but how?
Krickl emphasizes that Austria needs more innovation – and this is only possible with considerably faster approval processes and easier start -ups. “In this respect there are also positive signals in the government program.”

Now it’s time to speed up!
The most important thing now is to be fast and to implement the government program. Krickl: “If more than half of the plans succeed, it is very good and helps the economy.” 2026 could finally be the year of the big Upswing!
