Electronics retailer Conrad will close five of its six branches in Austria at the end of this year. Only the branch in Linz may remain.
Conrad Electronic Austria wants to focus more on online trading, according to a press release. In addition, the group wants to further expand its B2B purchasing platform for technical needs. Conrad had previously announced closures in Germany.
“This decision was very difficult for us, especially because of our employees, but in the end we cannot avoid these changed shopping habits,” said Markus Zettl, General Manager of Conrad Austria. The number of affected employees is not mentioned in the announcement.
