The Regional Library is hosting an exhibit on JRR Tolkien

Date:

Material about the life and work of the creator of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and some pieces not previously shown to the public will be on display

The Regional Library of Murcia (BRMU) is hosting the exhibition ‘Tolkien at the BRMU’ until December 16, an exhibition organized by the Spanish Tolkien Society, which showcases various materials on the life and work of the British writer.

The collections, drawn from the private collections of members of the Tolkien Society and from the society’s library, bring together unique pieces, some of which have never been publicly exhibited before.

The public visiting the Regional Library in the coming weeks will be welcomed in the lobby by two life-sized figures of the characters Aragorn and Gollum. You can also enjoy various reproductions of weapons used in the film adaptations of ‘The Lord of the Rings’; a 1917 edition of the book in which Tolkien published his first poem (‘Oxford Poetry’); a handmade replica of the Red Book in which Frodo writes the story of the famous adventure trilogy; figures from the board game ‘Combat Hex’; and a copy of “Letters from Santa Claus,” a book that collects the letters Tolkien wrote to his children for years while posing as Santa Claus; including documents and figures. All this accompanied by plates, panels and posters that allow an extensive journey through the life and work of the British philologist, writer, linguist and professor.

The recent premiere of a series recreating the universe of “The Lord of the Rings” is another example of the inexhaustible validity of JRR Tolkien’s work. His celebrated trilogy has captivated generations and continues to win over fans nearly 70 years after its publication.

The exhibition is complemented by five conferences, one of which has already been held, analyzing different aspects of the big world created by Tolkien. The next appointments with the experts in the writer universe are on December 2, 3, 10 and 16.
