FPÖ voted against – EU loan for Ukraine: Austria is liable

Date:

To secure EU loans to Ukraine, the National Council approved an amendment to the Balance of Payments Stabilization Act on Tuesday. Austria thus assumes a liability of up to EUR 102 million. The decision was made with the votes of the ÖVP, Greens, SPÖ and NEOS. The FPÖ voted against.

A draft resolution on “support for Ukraine against Russian aggression” was also adopted. Here too, only the FPÖ voted against.

Four parties for withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine
The four-party resolution called on the German government to continue pushing for an immediate cessation of Russian attacks and the immediate and complete withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory. Russia also demanded the full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and full sovereignty, as well as respect for fundamental standards of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Before the start of peace negotiations
In addition, all bilateral and multilateral initiatives that could lead to a de-escalation of the war and the start of serious peace negotiations between Moscow and Ukraine should be supported. The goal is a just peace and taking into account the 10-point formula worked out by Ukraine, the text of the resolution said.

Emphasis should be placed on compliance with and enforcement of the norms of international law at all levels. Further humanitarian assistance will also be provided to Ukraine and neighboring countries most directly affected by the humanitarian consequences of the war.
