Today marks 39 years since the murder of Dioni Aizpuru, Jose Mari Izura, Rafa Delas and Pedro Mari Isart, members of the Anti-Capitalist Autonomous Commands, at the hands of the Spanish police in Pasaia Bay. The central tribute will take place on Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the market square of Azpeitia. In recent years, the central act has been associated with a specific theme (state violence, the 1984 novel, torture…), and this year it will be more about exile.
Today, however, a flower offering will be made at the monolith behind the Enparan de Azpeitia Tower at 7:00 PM.
The Spanish government has always defended that they died in a shootout, but the bodies of Dioni Aizpuru and Pedro Mari Isart from Azpeiti and Rafa Delas and José Mari Izura from Pamplona had 113 bullet holes.
The families of the victims have been working non-stop to seek clarification of the facts, although no one responsible has been brought to justice to date.
Wheel of recognition on March 28
The only one who survived the slaughter, Joseba Merino He believes he has now recognized some of the police officers who took part in the Pasaia ambush, leading to the reopening of the case. Merino recognized one of the police officers in a documentary broadcast on TVE. For example, on March 28, Judge Joseba Merino called on to participate in the recognition wheel at the Provincial Court of San Sebastián.
Specifically, seven police officers will participate in the recognition wheel. A rally will be held in front of the court at 10 a.m. that day, under the slogan “Investigate and clarify the Pasaia massacre”, to demand that the facts be investigated and clarified.
