The return of the emeritus king to the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo (Pontevedra) has caused a cataract of political reactions between those who support him and those who do not support his return.

The return of the emeritus king to the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo (Pontevedra), in what was his first stop after 21 months without setting foot on Spanish soil, has caused a cataract of political reactions this Friday between those in favor and those not back that time.

Juan Carlos I arrived at the yacht club shortly before 12:30 pm, where he was received by some people who applauded him with cheers from “Long live the king!” and “Long live Spain!”

Ivan Espinosa de los Monterosspokesman for the far-right Vox party in Congress, has defended the freedom of the king emeritus to be in Spain and has emphasized the popular support he arouses when they cheer him wherever he goes, while the president of the government and the leaders of Podemos boo them

Alfonso Fernandez Manuelapresident of Castilla y León: “Anyone who analyzes the history of our country will verify that the king emeritus was crucial to the existence of the Constitution and democracy. The Nationalists and the Independentistas must also abide by the Constitution, too the separatists”.

Emiliano Garcia pagepresident of Castilla-La Mancha, has called for “hardness” with the king emeritus to be avoided, before emphasizing that he “will not follow the game of those who take advantage of it to attack the institution”.

Isabel Diaz AyusoPresident of the Community of Madrid, wished the emeritus king “the best” and, when asked about his return to Spain, pointed out: “These are the times of Felipe VI”.

Carmen Baldformer First Vice President of the government, has drawn the irony when he wrote on Twitter: “Temperatures are rising all over the country today, great embarrassment in Sanxenxo”.

Paul EcheniquePodemos spokesman in Congress: “I suppose that all those people who are outraged today that Juan Carlos has come to rub his impunity in our faces without any kind of decency or modesty, will not vote for parties that launder the monarchy and the investigative committees in Congress, right?

Joan BaldovicDeputy for Compromís: “Thank you, Juan Carlos. Never has a king – emeritus – done so much to discredit the monarchy.”

Oriol JunquerasERC president: “Spanish state allows a corrupt king to enter and leave with impunity. Meanwhile, anyone who questions his regime will be singled out, persecuted, imprisoned or forced into exile. It is a democratic disgrace. That’s why we are, and we’ve always been Republicans.

The BNGfor its part, has requested that the Ministers of the Interior and of the Presidency appear to clarify some aspects of the return of Juan Carlos I, in particular if they consider it appropriate despite the lack of explanations and about the money that costs his stay at the treasury.
