The remaining candidates for the Basque Parliament will also be announced that day, at the end of the Extraordinary National Assembly, which will put an end to the internal election process.
The PNV has announced the internal election calendar for the proclamation of candidacies for the Basque Parliament. According to this calendar, on January 20, they will announce the candidacy for Lehendakari, as well as the rest of the candidates for the Basque Parliament.
Earlier, on November 25, the municipal organizations were informed of the call, with the first response of the EBB’s proposed candidate for lehendakari attached.
According to the PNV, the EBB will send the proposal for the candidate to preside over the Basque Parliament and the rest of the candidates before the start of the first round.
The first round and vote will take place in the municipal council from December 11 to 24. The second round will take place from January 4 to 14. The territorial assemblies will then take place from January 15 to 19.
Finally, the party will hold an Extraordinary National Assembly on January 20 from which the names of the Yeltzales candidates for the Basque Parliament will be drawn up for the next regional elections.
The process to succeed Iñigo Urkullu gained momentum on Friday when news broke that he will not be the PNV candidate. Last Monday, the party board discussed the issue of succession.
