Ahead of the celebrations of the 60th birthday of the Governor of Lower Austria, Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP), climate activists caused a road blockade in Klosterneuburg (Tulln district) on Monday morning. According to police spokesman Stefan Loidl, five people were partially holding on to each other (see video above).
A diversion has been set up and there is little traffic.
The police were alerted around 8:45 am. The officers who were initially deployed left the activists in custody.
The birthday party for Mikl-Leitner takes place in the afternoon. Numerous guests from politics, business, sports and culture are expected in Klosterneuburg.
