The chairman of the PP, Alberto Nunez Feijoohas ensured that the Basque government must “think” about its “high taxes” compared to other autonomous communities, such as Madrid, Andalusia or Galicia, for example, and strive to maintain their industrial weight.
Feijóo made his first official visit to Euskadi this Thursday since taking up the post of People’s Party chairman. At noon he took part in a colloquium lunch with Basque businessmen in Getxo, and in the afternoon he met the… direction of the Basque PP
Asked about the economic policies developed by Iñigo Urkullu’s Executive, he assured that he notes that “the industrial situation in the Basque Country is not what it has been for some time” and that the “triangle between Basque Country-Madrid and Barcelona is leaning towards Madrid”.
In addition, he has ensured that “certain tax policy” in Euskadi they should “at least be considered and probably revised”.
The PP chairman has said he understands that “it is very difficult for an autonomous president” to be able to develop an industrial policy “with a central government like we have now”.
“It is very difficult to hold a president of an autonomous community responsible for the deterioration and industrial and economic policies in his territory with erratic policies and with wrong policies, from an economic and industrial point of view, of the central government .”, he pointed out.
For this reason, he has called for “honest and reasonableness”, because “the economic and industrial policy of an autonomous community is going well where socialist government is practically impossible”.
Despite this, Alberto Núñez Feijóo believes that, once the Basque economy has been observed and studied, Euskadi, “must make efforts to maintain the weight of industry in Basque GDP”as well as “thinking about the high tax paid in relation to other autonomous communities”.
