Criticism of the Premier’s suspension has not stopped

Date:

The Premier League’s decision to suspend the day continues to draw criticism this weekend in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, who died Thursday at age 96 after a 70-year reign. Other competitions are played.

England’s decisive third cricket match against South Africa at The Oval continues on Saturday, while Premiership rugby also takes place.

That was said by the Football Supporters Association (FSA), which is the representative body for football fans in England and Wales canceling matches is a missed opportunity for the followers to pay respect.

“We believe that football is at its best when it brings people together in times of great national importance, be it times of joy or times of mourning,” the FSA said.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) claimed that. “no obligation to cancel or postpone sporting events and events”effectively leaving the decision to each sport’s governing body.

The Rugby Football League said it had made the “difficult decision” to ensure matches took place at all levels, while the BMW PGA golf championship decided to restart as a 54-hole competition on Saturday after it was canceled on Friday.

Sunday’s Great North Run, the world’s largest half marathon with 60,000 participants, will also take place as planned, a decision welcomed by many competitors.

The British Horseracing Authority has suspended all events for two daysbut said they would continue on Sunday.

One fan, 32-year-old Alex Turner, said he felt the Premier League had made a mistake and that the England and Wales Cricket Board had made the wisest decision.
