The Las Palmas Inter-Island Football Federation (FIFLP) has decided to postpone all territorial category matches scheduled for this weekend, from this Friday until next Sunday, the 25th, both inclusive, due to the forecast of rain in the Canary Islands. The Inter-island Football Federation of Tenerife has done the same, but starting on Saturday the 24th.
The FIFLP adopted this position “after the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Security and Emergency, declared a maximum alert situation for rains in the Canary Islands a few minutes ago,” reported provincial football body in a statement.
The said alert will be effective from 00:00 hours on September 24, following the information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and the application of the Canary Islands Specific Emergency Plan for the Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
On the other hand, the Canarian Football Federation will “soon” make a decision on its competitions “and those with delegates from the Royal Spanish Football Federation.”
