Jon Rahm rose to fifth place in the world golf rankings after winning the Spanish Open at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
Rahm, with an average of 7.08 points, surpassed American Xander Schauffele (7.06) on the listwith Australian Cameron Smith (8.86) again grabbing second place from Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy (8.75) and placing himself as squire of the undisputed leader the North American Scottie Scheffler (9.35).
Also American Patrick Cantlay, second this Sunday in Las Vegas in the American circuit tournament after South Korean Tom Kim, tied for fourth position (8.52).
Pablo Larrazábal and Adri Arnaus tied for 75th place of the world list after losing several positions, while Sergio García raised one and it was 80.
Rahm is tenth on the DP World Tour list led by McIlroy and with Larrazábal the second Spaniard, sixteenth, Adrián Otaegui twenty-fourth and Arnaus twenty-fifth.
The victory of Eugenio López-Chacarra from Madrid in Bangkok is not reflected in the world rankingas the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) confirmed at the time that this season’s LIV Golf circuit tournaments will not offer ranking points.
