0-3: Osasuna drop Juan Grande from the Cup on penalties

Date:

The highest equality lived in Gran Canaria. CA Osasuna took the lead through striker Arantxa, but Juan Grande quickly equalized for Cora. The locals were one behind before the half-hour mark when Arisleyda was sent off, due to a double yellow card. After a grueling extra time for both teams, a penalty shootout was in charge to decide which team would advance to the Copa de la Reina round.

From the eleven meters, the goalkeeper, initially a substitute, dressed as a hero to prevent Juan Grande from scoring any penalties and, with it, kept Osasuna alive in the Copa de la Reina.

The team led by Kakun Mainz started the match better as a result of the good pressure they exerted on the pitch at Castillo del Romeral. Although Juan Grande Ginelux started to use the bands well and appeared dangerous in goal which was defended by goalkeeper Silvia Pérez. In one of them, local center back Cora attempted a shot from the front of the area without danger for the red goalkeeper. Immediately afterwards, María Pontejo’s board surprised Osasuna and Valeria was able to finish off a corner that came close to opening the scoring.

When the Gran Canaria team was at its best, Arantxa appeared for the visitors’ interest. The midfielder received the ball inside the small area, after a personal move by Alexia on the left side, and defined at will before Vicky’s shy exit.

The joy in Rojillo’s chest did not last long as Juan Grande’s chances followed each other in the clash. As soon as he left the center, Alba Quintana was satisfied for the Canarian interests, but he found an imperial Vera who was able to get the ball right on the goal line. Valeria and Eli tried their luck for Juan Grande, however, it was Cora who opened Silvia Pérez’s padlock with a precise header to equalize at one with just under 20 minutes remaining in the Copa de la Reina tie .

Five minutes later, local center back Arisleyda would end the game early after a botched tackle meant a second yellow card, with referee Cebollada López showing him the red card. Juan Grande Ginelux was left with one player less than half a point in the first half and with Osasuna trying to get the ball on a rather irregular pitch due to non-existent irrigation conditions for more than a year .

Neither team’s approach changed after the break. María Pontejo’s men were the first to break the balance in terms of possession and went into the match through an Eli González shot from the edge of the area. Guallar responded quickly in the 52nd minute with a one-on-one against Vicky, although the red striker could not define effectively and the cross shot skimmed the post.

However, María Pontejo’s side wanted to keep trying shots from the edge of the box and, on 55′, Alba Quintana interfered with Silvia Pérez. Zugasti, before leaving the field of play at the expense of Vilariño, had another dangerous chance for his team, although the islanders continued to trust the defense.

He sought to slow the clash in search of the team of the heroic María Pontejo with a double change giving the entry of Daysy to strengthen the right-hand lane after the dismissal of Arisleyda in the first half and with Nuria in the double pivot. As a result of that fresh air, Morán, from a set piece, put the danger in favor of the Gran Canaria team, but his shot just went over the crossbar.

The tie marked the final stages of the clash with arrivals from one team and the other and where the midfielders were mere spectators of the constant back and forth. But even with that, Juan Grande had to continue rowing in extra time, after the referee added four minutes, if he wanted to continue in the cup competition.

With a goal change by Osasuna, extra time began. It started by scaring the red team, having a very clear boot of Vilariño, helpful enough to see the exit of the local goalkeeper Vicky and, with a carat of Vaseline, overcome the first stumbling block, although not the second because an insular defender quickly appeared from behind to clear the ball on the goal line when it was 1-2.

In the 114th minute, María Pontejo, coach of CD Juan Grande Ginelux, was surprised to remove a central defender like Cora to make way for Leti, who scored the winning goal against Femarguín in the previous round of the Copa de the Queen. Everything is played for the entire Canarian team to try not to reach the lottery of penalties.

Before Cebollada López ended extra time, the local fans, as well as their bench, demanded a penalty from Leti in the Jaione area; The collegiate saw nothing. In the same game, local midfielder Eli González tried his luck from outside the area and came close to making the final 2-1 in the Copa de la Reina tie.

Lotto luck is a bit mixed. Osasuna did not miss any of the first three pitches and Juan Grande, on the contrary. Yanira Morán’s first went over the crossbar and, with the next two, Jaione was able to stop them so her teammates erupted in joy after a huge sacrifice throughout the match, but one that cost another round in the Cup.
