Luke Donald names Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts as his third vice-captain in the 2023 European Ryder Cup squadto be played at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome from September 26 to October 1, 2023, tournament organizers reported.
Colsaerts was part of the 2012 European Ryder Cup victory in Medinah, USA, and made one of the most memorable debuts in tournament history when he scored eight birdies and an eagle alongside Lee Westwood to help beat Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker on the final green in Friday’s fourball session.
In addition, the Belgian Colsaerts has won three times on the DP World Tour, formerly known as the European Tour. His most recent was at the 2019 French Open.
He played in 436 ‘European Tour’ tournaments to rank 84th on the list of all-time participants.
Colsaerts, who turned 40 last week, join Danish Thomas Bjørn, the successful 2018 European captain, and Italian Edoardo Molinari as vice-captains for the 2023 tournament.
