Poland and the United States, first semifinalists of the United Cup


Poland joined the United States as a team that qualified for the Final Four of the United Cup thanks to the mixed doubles win of Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz against Italians Camilla Rosatello and Lorenzo Musetti by 6-1 and 6-2.

Swiatek won every singles and doubles match he played in this mixed competition, which opens the WTA and ATP circuits.

Poland and Italy ended the individual matches of the final tie at the Brisbane venue with a 2-2 draw, so the mixed doubles will be decided to determine the team that will advance in the Final Four in Sydney.

The excellence of the Polish couple was revealed: they did not agree to a ‘break’ point and, on the other hand, he broke his rivals’ serve five times, three in the first set and two in the second.

It was a brilliant finish to a tie where the women’s singles went to Poland and the men’s to Italy.

Iga Swiatek defeated Martina Trevisan 6-2 and 6-4 and Magda Linette defeated Lucia Bronzetti 6-1 and 6-2and Lorenzo Musetti over Daniel Michalski 6-1 and 6-1 and Matteo Berrettini over Hubert Hurkacz 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3.

Previously, the United States qualified with more authority for the Final Four by defeating Great Britain 4-1 in the tie played in Sydney.
