These are the three good cause candidates for the 2022 Puskas Award

Date:

Polish footballer Marcin Oleksy, who had his left leg amputated, is one of three finalists for the 2022 Puskas Award, which FIFA recognizes as the best goal of the year, along with Brazilian Richarlison and Frenchman Dimitri Payet.

Oleksy scored one of the goals of the year on November 6, culminating in a spectacular scissor kick in a Polish Amputee League match between Warta Poznan, a team Oleksy plays for, and Stal Rzeszow.

“My teammate Dawid -Novak- made the pass. When I saw him approaching the ball, I knew it was coming to me. My connection was very clean. Pure. When I hit him, I followed the ball with my eyes. and saw how it entered the top corner. I always wanted to score a nice goal. After the goal, I felt very proud. I stood up, stuck out my chest. I was so, so happy,” said Oleksy.

The Polish player will compete for the Puskas award with the Brazilian Richarlison, who is among the candidates thanks to the fantastic volley goal he scored against Serbia in the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar and which has already earned the Brazilian purpose of the award contest.

The list of finalists is completed by the French player from Olympique de Marseille Dimitri Payet, thanks to the sensational goal from outside the area that he achieved in April in the quarterfinal match of the Conference League between the French team and PAOK from Greek Thessalonica.

The winner of the Puskas prize will be announced at The Best gala on February 27 in Paris.
