FIFA presents new guide for women’s licenses

With the aim of accelerating the professionalization and development of women’s football, FIFA published its first FIFA Guide for issuing licenses to women’s football clubs.

As well as recognizing the important role of clubs in the development of women’s football and creating specific tools and programs that support the unique environment of women’s football, the new FIFA Club Licensing Guide to Women’s Football will provide for the first time a specialized resource to enhance women’s football club licensing. This, in turn, will strengthen development paths for female players in club football and raise the overall bar in clubs around the world.

The publication is a comprehensive and practical tool that will help FIFA’s 211 member associations establish and implement a club licensing structure for their respective women’s football competitions. This is a ten-step guide that member associations can follow to create a club licensing system, along with eight additional steps that will allow leagues to maintain their club licensing structures in per season.
