“Marquez is the wolf in Ducati’s hen house”

Date:

The arrival of Marc Márquez to the Gresini Racing team to ride one of the eight Ducati Desmosedici on the MotoGP grid gives, as expected, a lot to talk about.

Starting midway through the 2022 season, Ducati takes over MotoGP, with impressive dominance: the Italian brand has won 26 of the last 32 grand prix, and 17 of the 21 sprint races held. And all this without focusing only on the official team, as Jorge Martín was able to challenge Pecco Bagnaia for the title until the last race last year wearing Pramac colours, while 26 race wins were distributed among seven drivers.

To all of them, now the name of Marc Marquez should be addedthat reached the Gresini team hungry for victories, then some seasons marked by injuries and poor results at the back of sling bag of the HRC Repsol team.

Exactly, that Cervera’s winning spirit can be a double-edged sword inside Ducati (The Italian team does not have the last word in the selection of Gresini Racing and Pertamina Enduro VR46 drivers, unlike what happens with Pramac) and some voices, such as French John Zarco, they have been pronounced in relation to possible problems between drivers of the same brand.

For the French, #93’s performance could cause problems soon on the brand he was with before signing for LCR Honda. The multiple champion from Cervera has not been fully adapted to Ducati, but He is already fighting with the best drivers of the Bolognese factory and, according to Zarco, it can rapidly changing the balance of power within.

In fact, there was already the first incident at the last Portuguese GP, the accident between Bagnaia and Márquez, official, a racing incident in which the drivers disagreed but did not end up in any controversy, and Ducati carefully avoided taking sides.

“It’s going to be a very interesting season,” commented the pilot from Nice to ‘Canal+ France’. “I think Marc Márquez inside Ducati is the wolf in the henhouse. Pecco is calm, but Marc is annoying, so it will be very interesting. And for Ducati, the image of Marc Márquez is also big.”

And although Marquez did everything possible set a low profile about the expectations placed on himexpressing a desire to prove to himself that he is still up to the task and a certain fear of rejection, Zarco has no doubts about his desire to win a seventh premier class title: “I think Márquez has such a desire that he wins racesand in his mind he wants to play for the championship, he wants to reach Valentino Rossi in the number of titles.”

Zarco himself crossed the opposite path this year from Ilerdanse, leaving behind a team Desmosedici Pramac Racing by a RC213Vand he’s not upset about it, even if he finds himself with a less competitive machine: “I think it’s interesting, and [estoy] almost happy who left Ducati when Márquez arrived“, he concluded.
