The best moment of his career came in 2017, when he was proclaimed world champion in the 200 meters in London and became the second European in history to win world distance gold after Greek Kostas Kenteris in Edmonton 2001.

Guliyev will be one of the key personnel of the meeting in Madrid along with Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas, Olympic champion and triple jump world record holder, who also confirmed his presence in the Spanish capital.
