Koeman, on disallowed goal against Simons: “I don’t think Dumfries bothered the goalkeeper”

Date:

Ronald KoemanNetherlands coach, regretted the referee’s decision that nullified Xavi Simons a goal due to offside Denzel Dumfries and said that the goalkeeper of France, Mike Maignanwas not disturbed by the Dutch defender, despite being in the path of the ball and in an illegal position when his teammate finished.

“Yes, it was difficult, the disallowed goal. I don’t think Denzel bothered the goalkeeper. His goalkeeper just arrived late and the ball just went in. In fact, it took them five minutes to decide. If it took that long, it’s because they didn’t know it.” said the coach of the Dutch team.

“The result was a bit disappointing, but if we think about the whole game, there were a few moments where we lost possession of the ball when we shouldn’t have, and that’s not good. There was too much space between our lines. and we could have done better in the second half But yes, one point is good,” he declared.

scolded Koeman

“It’s always difficult to face a team like France. We want to play our style of football and be brave, but we can’t lose the ball like we did tonight. We have to be faster in the way we play. We are responding and create more opportunities up front. “We are a team that still needs to grow.”

Finally, Koeman declared that he does not feel the result as a “victory” because his team is in the Euro Cup to win and score goals. “We didn’t have much of a chance, but I think France are pretty happy with the result, as are we,” he concluded.
