The Spanish U17 women’s team defeated its counterpart from, 2-1, thanks to the goals of Clara Serrajordi and Alba Cerratoboth in the first half, thinking about the World Cup in the Dominican Republic that will take place from October 16 to November 6 and where the national team will look to retain the title.
The match, played at the facilities of the Albir Garden Resort (Alicante), the same venue where the team defeated Portugal (5-1) on Tuesday, was dominated from start to finish by the players coached by Kenio Gonzalo.
After rehearsed set-piece play, Clara Serrajordi sent the ball into the net in the 20th minute to put her team ahead, and after a penalty converted by Alba Cerrato in the 43rd minute they increased the difference at 2-0.
In the second half, Jimena Rojas’ Mexico significantly improved their performance and closed the gap at the end of the match thanks to a goal from Juliana Contreras.
Spain will play the last friendly match before heading to the Dominican Republic against Brazil next Wednesday, October 2 at 3:30 pm CET (-2GMT) at Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas.
