Last February the player of Bordeaux Girondins Albert Elis received a blow to the head in a collision with the footballer of Guingamp Donatien Gomis and he had to have surgery on his skull and was in a coma.
Months later, the Honduran international recalled this bitter experience in an interview with ‘The Athletic’ which the newspaper collects ‘Ace’.
“When I woke up from the coma I didn’t remember that I was a footballer. I didn’t remember what was inside FranceI didn’t remember that he was Honduran. The doctors thought it would be difficult for me to recover,” he explained.
He also said that “from the moment I woke up, my parents told me that I was always happy. Happy because he lived and grateful God because it gave me another chance at life.”
elise He added that “I went to a teacher who helped me think, who taught me to speak and write, because I lost it. In the morning I went to school, in the afternoon I went to the gym, went me in other tests. And so every day is the same for me to recover and come back.”
For now, he continues without being able to play football. “I’ve had doctor’s tests and they told me that I’m fine, that I can play again and now I’m training. I’ve been training for five months and I always do it with a head protector that helps me if I had suffered a blow.”
