The UEFA working on a proposal addressed at its last work meeting at the end of June around Qatar World Cup. It discussed a proposal from the Dutch Football Federation for a joint captains armband to be worn by all captains of European participants next Qatar World Cup. It is a symbol of a heart with all colors in favor of inclusion, highlighting that everyone is welcome in football. Below the aforementioned heart is a text that reads in Dutch: “Voetbal verbindt”, which translates as “football unites”. The proposal of UEFA is the translation of this phrase into national languages or, if you prefer to translate it into English: “football unites”.
In the same work meeting, UEFA ask National Associations to provide feedback on whether they support the initiative. The UEFA this proposal can be shared with thirteen national associations who are free to decide whether to join the initiative, which must be presented to FIFA for your approval.
The release of a joint statement will take place shortly before the September selection window, the latter before the Qatar World Cup. The proposal is to do this exactly on the same date and time for all participating associations.
