This type of vehicle, called personal mobility, must comply with a series of traffic regulations
The bicycle is one of the most practical and economical means of transport that we can use, both in our everyday life and as a place of holiday rest. It is an effective form of transport, especially over short distances, and very ecological when using the 100% electric variant. In the latter case, it allows steeper and longer routes with little effort, a perfect option to visit a city. The electric scooter has also become a fast, safe and reliable means of transport. For this reason, and taking advantage of the fact that there are increasingly safer infrastructures for pedestrians, cyclists and users of electric scooters, this type of mobility will save parking time, fuel and spending on public transport tickets, for example.
In addition, they are vehicles, called personal mobility by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), which can be rented, but there are also various folding models that can be bought and transported in the car or in the motorhome and used at the last destination, especially anything to reach those corners or landscapes to which
almost impossible to reach on four wheels. But for the more adventurous, there are four-wheeled options for hiking trails or reaching the top of a mountain on rocky trails.
For this task, ATVs like the Kymco MXU 300 are the perfect partner. Very safe, robust and easy to handle with no previous experience – it requires a B car driver’s license – it is approved for two people and has all the necessary equipment and amenities. It has two front and rear luggage racks – with a weight capacity of 20 and 30 kilos respectively – and a 12-volt socket and USB input.
When it comes to bicycles and scooters, brands such as Peugeot, Velca and Invicta Electric should be on their name
models adapted to every need and taste.
In the case of Peugeot, the eLC01 models stand out, very efficient thanks to their 8-speed gearbox and a range of up to 70 kilometers. Handy and manoeuvrable in the city thanks to its compact dimensions, it is a comfortable vehicle, with its suspension seat. You can quickly attach bags and travel gear to the handy ‘Racktime’ luggage rack, which is very handy when you’re on vacation. With a price of 1,499 euros, there is also an option for the road and
also for the little ones – called Junior-.
For their part, and with 100% Spanish origin, Fisterra and Gata, in addition to two of the most famous capes in Spain, crossing the entire peninsula from vertex to vertex, now give their name to the first two models of electric bicycles of the leading Spanish brand electric mopeds Velca. Both models have an electric motor and a support range of 70 km thanks to their removable LG batteries that weigh just 2 kg. Another notable feature of Velca electric bikes is their weight. With the included battery, the Gata model weighs just 14 kg.
Another reference brand is Invicta Electric, which has a wide portfolio of scooters, tricycles, scooters and e-bikes. A good option within this range is the Ilark electric scooter, very comfortable due to its saddle and three wheels and its folding system; efficient thanks to its zero-emissions autonomy of 25 km and easy to drive without the need for a driver’s license or driver’s license.
Given the growing demand and use of this type of vehicle, traffic legislation has become stricter, with
fines up to 500 euros, depending on the violation, its seriousness and its consequences. In the first place, you are not allowed to wear headphones, nor use your mobile phone or other device while driving, on pain of 200 euros.
They are single seat approved so two passengers can’t go, helmet wearing is mandatory and they can’t circulate on the sidewalks either – traffic on interurban roads, intersections, highways, dual carriageways or urban tunnels is also prohibited, too punishable by 200 euros. Driving under the influence of alcohol is also prohibited, with a fare of 0.0 for minors.
Likewise, the agency recommends the use of bells and lighting.
