Two people were killed in an avalanche accident in Slovakia’s High Tatras on Wednesday. As the mountain rescue service HZS announced, a Polish mountain guide had warned the helpers by phone. His colleague and another person were swept away by a plate avalanche under Mount Bradavica.
Because, according to the mountain rescuers, there was heavy snowfall and fog in the area at the time, so it was not possible to deploy helicopters.
Bodies found after an hour
A task force that had come to the accident scene on foot was able to locate and excavate the two victims after about an hour of searching beneath the snow masses.
However, the two buried victims gave no sign of life.
