According to the authorities, the Russian capital Moscow has achieved the objectives of the partial mobilization ordered by President Vladimir Putin and ended conscription with immediate effect. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Moscow had fulfilled its mobilization task. The conscription reports, which now come in at the home or work location, no longer need to be followed. The Moscow administrative region around the capital also reported the end of mobilization measures. According to Russian authorities, Moscow’s military commissar Maxim Loktjew said that volunteers can of course continue to volunteer.
Many newcomers already dead or in captivity
Many conscripts have reportedly been sent directly to Ukraine to fight with no training and insufficient equipment. Moments later, local media in Russia reported that reservists had been killed or imprisoned there.
To compensate for high Russian losses in the war against Ukraine, Putin ordered the mobilization of 300,000 reservists. Joint unit on the Belarusian border
The joint military unity of Russia and Belarus is now slowly taking shape. According to the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, Russia is sending up to 9,000 soldiers and hundreds of technology units to Belarus. About 170 tanks, 200 armored fighting vehicles and artillery were expected, Valeri Revenko, head of the international military cooperation department of the Belarusian defense ministry, announced in Minsk on Monday.
The group is capable of defending itself against an attack from the west, National Security Council secretary Alexander Wolfovich said. The Belarusian border guard had previously informed about stronger security of the state borders. At the same time, Wolfovich emphasized that Belarus was not preparing for war. This mainly concerns joint maneuvers in response to military exercises in neighboring NATO countries. Belarus borders both Russia and Ukraine.
