CC unions. OO., LAB and UGT have accused the Biscayan Federation of Metal Companies (FVEM) of “making metal workers go on strike” by enforcing a proposed agreement that “does not guarantee purchasing power.”

In a statement, these three union headquarters indicated that, despite the union majority last week urging employers to adopt a negotiating approach that “would not involve any attack on workers”, the FVEM “has been unable to take a position to take that may encourage negotiation of the agreement”.

For its part, ELA has brought a new proposal to the negotiating table for the metal deal, which will meet this Wednesday, and has described FVEM’s “movements” on wages as “inadequate”.

In a statement, ELA, with a 40% representation, indicated that its new proposal contains content it deems “essential” to sign an agreement.

After more than 10 months, 14 meetings and three days of strike before the summer, the FVEM maintains a proposal that “does not guarantee the purchasing power of working people, with a total increase of 10% for a 3-year contract, and capping of a possible revision to a maximum of 12%,” according to the unions.

“At a time when, according to the latest data, we are experiencing an inflation rate of 8.9%, adding up to 6.5% last year, the FVEM approach represents a full-fledged attack on the working class and a clear call for strike,” they assured. .
