Former US President Donald Trump ridiculed the work of the Commission of Inquiry into the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack during a performance in Robstown, Texas on Saturday night. So far, members have found nothing “except a great patriot,” Trump said. His supporters interrupted him by singing the national anthem.
The one thing the commission doesn’t want to investigate is “the corruption” that took place in the 2020 presidential election, Trump said. Shortly before the US midterm elections, he generally questioned the legitimacy of the US election.
Trump was summoned by the commission on Friday. He must hand over a large number of documents no later than November 4 and be available for a multi-day interrogation under oath from November 14. It is not yet clear whether Trump will comply with the subpoena or act against it.
