The attacker broke into a high school in the city of San Luis and caused panic scenes when he started shooting indiscriminately.
At least two women died Monday — a teen and an adult — and six other people were injured in a shooting that was recorded at a secondary education center in the city of Saint Louis, Missouri. As described by the Metropolitan Police Department, the perpetrator of the attack was a young man in his 20s who was killed in a confrontation with the officers.
The event was reported to the Central Visual and Performing Arts Institute at 9:10 a.m. local time. When security forces arrived in search of the suspect, they found students fleeing the facilities. They were told a person with a long rifle was firing inside, local media reported.
Authorities shortly afterwards indicated that the area was already safe and that there was no “active threat” after the attacker was injured in the firefight with police. The person was taken to a hospital, although his death was later confirmed.
Agents from the FBI and the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on the scene searching for evidence to determine the motives behind what happened.
