Listeners to the morning show of British radio station GenX Radio were shocked on Monday: radio host Tim Gough collapsed and died in the middle of the live show. The Brit was only 55 years old.
“It is with a heavy heart to announce that our dear friend and breakfast host, Tim Gough, passed away this morning while presenting his program. Our condolences go out to his family, his son, sister, brother and mother. Tim did what he did. loved,” the radio station said in a statement on Twitter.
During the incident, the music suddenly stopped and did not resume until a few minutes later. As the BBC reported, Gough hosted the show from his home in Lackford, Suffolk. It is not yet known exactly why he died – according to the BBC he is believed to have suffered a heart attack.
One of the late co-hosts, Mark Eley, said he “learned so much from Tim”, who had a “huge” talent and passion for radio. Gough has only recently returned to radio after a 12-year hiatus, according to one of his Facebook posts.
