In Ukraine, more than seven million households are without power after massive Russian air strikes. 15 sites of the country’s energy infrastructure have been damaged, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, reported on online networks on Tuesday night.
According to Kiev, Russia had previously attacked several Ukrainian cities with about 100 missiles. Sirens sounded across the country in the afternoon, followed by explosions in Kiev, Lviv and Kharkiv, according to an anti-aircraft app. During the airstrikes on Ukraine in recent weeks, the Russian military has repeatedly and increasingly targeted key infrastructure facilities.
Blackout also in Moldova
As a result of the Russian attacks, there was a “widespread power outage” in large parts of the Republic of Moldova, which borders Ukraine, early Tuesday evening. According to Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spinu, hundreds of thousands of residents in at least ten oblasts of the country, including the capital Chisinau, have been affected by the blackout.
