During a recent interrogation by murder investigators from the National Criminal Investigation Department (LKA) in Styria, the 30-year-old suspect could remember an argument with his partner (33), contrary to the initial information. This was announced by the police on Tuesday.
The man stated that last Saturday, when he was under the influence of alcohol, there was a fight with his partner in the house they shared. The reason for this would have been her constant drinking and the fact that she was overwhelmed with the shared household.
Overwhelmed by housekeeping
As part of the argument, the 30-year-old allegedly pushed the woman to the floor in the living room and then used force against her neck. The suspect also confessed to this. According to his own statements, he wanted to prevent further attacks on him.
Then he went to sleep in the bedroom. The suspect would have found the 33-year-old lifeless there hours later. He himself had filed a report with the police on Sunday evening via an emergency call.

Even if the suspect has not been able to fully classify the course of the crime chronologically, his statements are consistent with the findings of the trace analysis available to date. The injuries as a result of the use of blunt force, as determined by forensic medicine, are also consistent with the course of events described.
Further molecular genetic testing and criminal investigations are conducted to fully clarify the crime and the circumstances at the time of the crime.
The 30-year-old suspect will be taken to the Graz-Jakomini prison on Tuesday by order of the Graz public prosecutor’s office.
