In the Valle d’Aosta in northern Italy, four people were buried by an avalanche on Thursday. A mountain guide (49) managed to free himself, descend into the valley and raise the alarm. The other three people are still missing under the snow masses.
They trained as mountain guides and were out in the Rhemes Valley on Thursday. There they were surprised by an avalanche. According to the Italian news agency ANSA, the leader of the group, a mountain guide from the Valle d’Aosta, was able to save himself, descend into the valley and raise the alarm. He was then taken to a hospital.
