After the swearing-in, Turkey’s president will meet with his team to outline the new cabinet of ministers, which will be announced on Saturday evening.
He President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoganwas sworn back into office in Turkey’s parliament this Saturday, beginning his third term, which will last until 2028.
Erdogan has led Turkey since 2003, first as prime minister and since 2014 as president, a position that has combined the functions of head of state and head of government since a referendum in 2017.
He swore an oath to the Acting Speaker of Parliamentthe ultra-nationalist Devlet Bahçeli, who has held this position since the creation of the legislature yesterday, as he was the senior deputy.
After the obligatory visit to the mausoleum of the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Erdogan moved to the presidential palaceto proceed with the inauguration ceremony, in the presence of some thirty foreign heads of state and government.
