Because he was speeding, a driver drove over a roundabout in Hof on Thursday evening and raced down an embankment 60 meters uncontrollably.
The 18-year-old Bosnian was on Wolfgangseestraße from Fuschl to Hof near Salzburg. In the vicinity of Baderluck, the driver left the road at the waste collection point. He had missed the roundabout, he admitted. He also went too fast. He touched several road markings, drove on the bike path next to the road and shot a forest about 60 meters away. The car came to a stop against a tree, otherwise it would have crashed further.
A witness heard noises and immediately alerted the emergency services. They were able to save the Bosnian, who said he had no injuries. Nor was he drunk. Ambulance personnel took him to hospital for an examination. Due to the difficult terrain, the car had to be recovered with a special crane.
The police had to close Wolfgangseebundesstraße near the roundabout at night for almost three hours for the rescue.
