According to the public prosecutor, the chats between the suspects and their mobile phone recordings of the victim during and after the crime show that the young men saw the joint act of violence against the woman as a kind of pastime. One of the alleged perpetrators would have stood before the juvenile judge. He would have been released and transferred to a care facility. Prosecutor Claudia Caramanna wants to challenge this decision. The secured video shows that the young man was one of the boldest.
Lega: “Chemically castrate rapists”
The right-wing national party Lega is now calling for chemical castration of rapists. Matteo Salvini’s party has started collecting signatures for the new bill. Salvini supports the initiative and said jail terms would not be enough in such cases. A drug is used that suppresses the sex hormone testosterone. So far, the bill only provides for the voluntary administration of the drug, not the compulsory one.
