“ATM for Gangs” – How criminals launder bloody money via Spotify

Date:

Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Drake and millions of hits from other musical greats – that’s what Spotify stands for. But the Swedish market leader in music streaming is apparently hiding a dark secret, focusing on a bloody turf war and money laundering.

Spotify has had quite an impressive career since its founding in 2006 in Stockholm, Sweden. With a 31 percent share of the global music streaming market, the provider has so far even successfully kept companies like Apple Music (15%) and Amazon Music (13%) at bay. The service’s revenue, which recently reached 551 million monthly active users, was constantly rising and amounted to around 11.73 billion euros the year before. This creates desire – not only among the labels and their artists, but also among gangs.
