Tragic accident while working on a farm in the Mühlviertel in Upper Austria: a farmer looked over his mother while reversing and drove over her. Despite intensive resuscitation efforts, all help came too late for the old farmer’s wife.
The tragic accident happened on Tuesday around 9:30 am in Wartberg ob der Aist (Freistadt district). A 53-year-old farmer backed the tractor and trailer out of the garage and pushed it into the driveway. He didn’t notice his 76-year-old mother walking past the team.
When reversing
The Mühlviertler looked back, but due to the height of the feed mixer he could not see everything, including his mother. He hit her as she was backing up, knocked her down and ran over her. When he noticed the accident, the farmer immediately jumped off the tractor and ran to his seriously injured mother. He immediately alerted the emergency services and immediately began resuscitation measures.
All help came too late
Police officers were first on the scene and officers took over resuscitation measures. Paramedics called for an emergency helicopter, but the doctor could only determine that the old farmer was dead.
