The investigation into Monday morning’s knife attack is still ongoing: the Public Prosecution Service now wants to have the suspect psychologically examined. The reason is his confusing statements during the interrogation.
The “Krone” reported on Monday morning about the knife attack in Fadingerstrasse in the Parsch district of Salzburg: a 35-year-old stabbed his landlord (61) while handing over an apartment. Because he clearly didn’t want to leave the apartment. A real estate agent was an eyewitness and immediately raised the alarm.
The 35-year-old confessed to the crime
The suspect was arrested a few minutes after the crime with a bloody kitchen knife in his hand – because there happened to be a patrol in the area. According to information from “Krone”, investigators now doubt the man’s mental health. The reason for this was apparently his confusing statements during the first interrogation. As is known, he has already confessed to the crime himself.
In any case, the Public Prosecution Service wants to check the man’s mental condition and therefore orders an expert to draw up a report. On Wednesday, the regional court will also decide whether to impose pre-trial detention. In addition, new details about the knife attack have now become known: the 35-year-old is said to have stabbed the victim in the chest seven times with a kitchen knife. The rescue service took the seriously injured man to hospital. By the way, it’s unlikely the suspect has attracted any criminal attention so far.
