The beautiful wolfhound “Heaven” found shelter in TiKo Klagenfurt after being illegally brought from Russia to Carinthia and freed from unacceptable conditions by an official inspection. Now the male needs hip surgery on both sides. Animal lovers can help with donations.
Another four-legged friend was brought illegally from abroad, this time from Russia, to Carinthia and taken to an apartment where the male had to live out his life.
Fortunately, the beautiful pooch was rescued from the catastrophic conditions and brought to Tiko, where he put his trust in animal care manager Laura Balakowski. Only she is allowed into “Heaven’s” kennel and a unique connection has been created between the handsome dog expert and the beautiful wolfhound. But the wolfhound is plagued with excruciating pain because he suffers from a congenital hip problem.
Laura will join “Heaven”.
Now the male, who turns three years old in December, must undergo hip surgery on both sides by a specialist. However, this complex procedure and aftercare involve costs of more than 9,000 euros.
Animal lovers can help with a donation. Zookeeper Laura will support her beloved dog and will move into the TiKo for a few weeks after the operation so that she can be present for “Heaven” day and night.
A few days ago, Laura was taken with the wolf dog – he only leaves her near him – to a specialist in Vienna. He was anesthetized and x-rayed. “He was so brave. I was with him and held his paw the whole time until he woke up again,” says Laura.
“His hip problem can be operated on, it is a risky operation, but the vet is confident,” says Laura, hoping for a happy ending for “Heaven”.
Donation page for “Heaven”
The first operation date has now been set for early December. “Heaven” will initially only have surgery on one side of his hip. “Please keep your fingers crossed that the brave man makes it through everything okay. If you would like to help us, we have set up a donation page for you. Every euro helps,” says Laura, hoping for the hearts of animal lovers: https://tiko.or.at/de/spenden
