After months of investigation, Vienna police managed to arrest a total of eleven suspects between the ages of 19 and 63. In total, they are said to have committed burglaries in 270 cases and at 46 crime scenes.
The main targets were basements of apartment buildings, apartments, offices and shops, which were broken into between November 2022 and July 2023. The total damage amounts to no less than 150,000 euros.
Two main perpetrators
The main perpetrators are a 21-year-old and a 19-year-old. Both were responsible for searching for and specifically selecting the crime scenes mentioned. After further investigation, seven other members of the gang were arrested.

Moreover, on the return journey to Austria, a Hungarian couple was tracked down and arrested red-handed. During the investigation, the officers analyzed the movement patterns of the main perpetrators in order to ultimately identify the suspects.
Stolen goods are resold
During a subsequent search of the apartments, burglary tools, stolen property and a blank pistol were found and seized. According to police, the stolen goods were resold immediately after the crimes.
Partly known
During the interviews, some of the main perpetrators confessed to the crimes and stated that the motive was to finance their drug use or livelihood. All those arrested were taken to a penitentiary.
