A 50-year-old driver from Vorarlberg was lucky with bad luck and bad luck with good luck on Friday evening. First, he miraculously survived a serious accident completely unscathed. But then, while investigating the accident, police came across a number of prescription medications and cannabis herb.
The 50-year-old was driving towards Innsbruck when his car suddenly left the lane on the Rhine Valley highway near Klaus due to carelessness. First his car crashed into the outer guardrail, from there he slid into the middle guardrail and was then thrown into the outer guardrail for the second time. Although the car was a total loss and the guardrails were also significantly damaged, the driver was completely unharmed.
However, his luck was quickly clouded: during the investigation into the accident, the police officers found several prescription drugs and cannabis herb in his car – the driver was reported to the Feldkirch Public Prosecutor’s Office for violations under the Narcotic Substances Act. Incidentally, the man was not ‘enlightened’ at the time of the accident and a drug test was negative.
The crash also had an impact on many other motorists, as the accident site could not be passed for about 35 minutes due to the rescue measures.
