1600 euro fine – Took a wrong turn: you will even be charged twice

Date:

The “cash-up trick” when using private parking lots or streets is not new. A special case is reported from Wolkersdorf (Lower Austria): there you get paid twice – on a short route – because you drive on two properties at the same time. Many people fall into the trap because of the nearby pharmacy: for one “Krone” reader the claim was even 1,600 euros!

It’s only a short distance and at the end there is a pharmacy. For many people it is tempting to drive briefly despite prominent warning signs and save themselves a detour. But this can be expensive – if you are captured photographically: “I recently had to pay 1,600 euros,” one driver reports angrily. The Wolkersdorf resident presents the reason why this “rip-off” can lead to such exorbitantly high penalties at the “Krone” in the form of four individual reports for being caught twice – by two different property owners.

Small distance, big bill
“Each of the two owners can charge a fixed rate of 399 euros for each unlawful entry,” at least that is what happened to the Wolkersdorfer, who ultimately arrived at a four-figure amount. The letter included proof of payment, along with a note to prevent lawsuits from being filed with the payment. Photos of the incidents are also attached.

“I am aware of my mistakes and have made up for them,” says the Weinviertler. What he doesn’t understand is the amount: “The amount has no relation to, for example, the fines if vehicles race through a local area at too high speed.”

The company advertises openly Service and property protection”
If you research the company that delivers the notices, literally no questions remain unanswered: “Zupf di” shamelessly advertises on the homepage of the same name that its services save the customer a lot of effort. According to the printout, six similarly brutal websites have been secured. When “Krone” asked about the double fall in Wolkersdorf, no comment was received by telephone or email.

Community is “powerless”
The community is already aware of the matter: unfortunately, talks with the landowners have failed, they say. But the municipality subsequently placed additional warning signs. Neighbors say how brutal the approach is: The “Wolki-Mobil”, a service mainly intended for the elderly, would have already been mercilessly punished – even if this offer was an initiative of the municipality of Wolkersdorf itself…
