A 22-year-old lost control of his car on Pinzgauer Straße in Salzburg on Saturday evening and crashed into the wall in the tunnel between Mitterhofen and Maishofen. His two passengers were injured. The car and the tunnel’s noise barrier were damaged.
Around 2 a.m., the 22-year-old was driving with two passengers (19 and 20) on the B311 from Saalfelden towards Zell am See. At the northern portal of the tunnel at Maishofen-Kirchham the car skidded and crashed into the tunnel wall. The impact threw the vehicle back onto the road and only came to a stop after 100 meters.
The young women were injured in the collision and were taken to the Tauern Clinic in Zell am See. A breath test after the accident showed that the 22-year-old driver was not drunk. His car was totaled. The tunnel’s noise barrier was severely damaged.
