The EU agrees new sanctions against Russia over the two-year war in Ukraine

The new package of sanctions will include more companies contributing to the war of aggression, especially entities linked to the drones used by Moscow against Ukraine.

The European Union (EU) reached one this Wednesday political agreement to impose a new round sanctions in return for Russiathe thirteenth since it invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, which will be formally approved on the second anniversary of that conflict.

The current Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU has reported via the social network X that this package of sanctions is “one of the largest approved by the EU”.

The new sanctions package includes, among other things: more companies contributing to the war of aggression, especially entities linked to the drones used by Moscow against Ukraine. The EU will extend individual sanctions against around 250 people responsible for the invasion.

Within the EU, this new round of sanctions is being talked about as the “icing on the cake” for the support the EU has provided in recent weeks, with a green light for opening accession negotiations or approving EU aid. 50 billion long term for Kiev within the European budget.
