Homeless man sentenced to seven years in prison after hours of torture

Date:

A particularly serious case of sexual violence was the subject of the Salzburg Regional Court on Monday: a homeless Romanian (31) had to press charges on suspicion of attempted rape and intentional infliction of serious bodily harm. And eventually ended up in prison for seven years.

On the night of November 6, 2023, the man met a woman in the station district who was also homeless. They both drank alcohol and then went to a dark corner of an empty building. There, the Romanian beat the woman for hours, according to the indictment.

He allegedly forcibly demanded sex from the woman several times – she was able to defend herself in time with all her strength. Three police officers intervened after witnessing the crime. The victim suffered a series of broken ribs and bruises.

The court spokeswoman informed ‘Krone’ that the final verdict was seven years in prison.
