Fire and water rescue teams searched the Salzach between Golling and the Gamp power plant on Thursday. An abandoned bicycle sparked the action.
In addition to the Hallein fire brigade, colleagues from Golling and the AustroCel company fire brigade and water rescuers from Salzburg and Bischofshofen were also involved in the search.
A bicycle was discovered in the Salzachöfen area in Golling during a mountain rescue exercise on Wednesday evening. Police investigation revealed that the bicycle belonged to a missing person.
Combing the banks, help from the air
The Hallein fire brigade searched for the Bürgerausee Kuchl with boats from the power plant site. Two search parties combed the coastal areas. A group of drones provided air support. Inlet screens at the Gamp and Hallein power stations were also searched.
However, the missing person could not be found. The emergency services called off the large-scale search after four hours.
