A bizarre operation took place in Arnoldstein in Carinthia on Friday. The Cobra task force was called in due to alleged noise pollution and even shots fired as a result. But then came the surprising turnaround: it was all just made up!
On Friday around 9:15 p.m., a 25-year-old man from the Villach-Land district made an emergency call to report noise pollution in a residential building in Arnoldstein. “After an initial intervention by the officers who intervened, the sound was stopped by a known 29-year-old from Arnoldstein,” police said.
Just 15 minutes later another report was made. This time, a 25-year-old from Arnoldstein stated that the noise was not stopped and he could see two shots being fired from the window of the apartment in question. “In a short time, the 25-year-old made several reports that shots were being fired again and again. He said a total of eight shots were heard,” said an officer.
Full support requested
Because the suspected perpetrator is a known person, several police patrols, a police dog, the EKO/Cobra and the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG) Carinthia have been asked for support.
When he arrived on the scene, the 29-year-old had locked the door and could clearly be heard talking to other people in the apartment. Only after repeated requests to open the door did the man comply and the EKO/Cobra officers stormed the apartment.
All advertisements are made up
Surprisingly, the 25-year-old reporter and a 17-year-old from the Villach district were also in the apartment. “The man confessed and stated that he and the well-known 29-year-old from Arnoldstein had made up all the advertisements because they wanted to see what happened and whether the EKO/Cobra would actually intervene. They thought this was funny,” state police said.
No weapons were found during the search of people and apartments. The 29-year-old was unruly and constantly behaved aggressively. Therefore, he was temporarily arrested and taken to the Villach police detention center. All three people have been reported.
